Would this be considered harassment?

A few months ago I had a relationship with a guy, it fell apart, and a few days after the fall out some property damage was done to his vehicle (not by my hand, of course) and I was blamed. My name was eventually scratched off of the list of suspects, but after things had cooled down the guy started to spread rumors in order to make himself look like the victim and get me into even bigger trouble. He told the housing department at our college that I made threats that involved the suggestion of bodily harm and even more damage to his vehicle. I did no such thing. I've never been in trouble with the law before, let alone in a situation like this, and I'm not sure what can be done about it if there even is anything. He has managed to make himself look like the victim when in reality the victim is me. All of my supposed actions in this situation have been falsified, and I am uncertain of what to do about it because I fear that no one will believe me after what this guy has said to the authorities in charge.
