I had sex on my period. It stopped about a day or two later. Then, it came back two weeks early. What?!?

This sex was protected with condoms. I learned that having sex on one's period could make it stop after due to hormones. That's quite normal. However, I'm not sure why it started up again 2 weeks earlier than expected. Do those two periods have something to do with each other? I'm uncertain.
