Out of state for college, or stay in IL?

Im still uncertain what I want to do, I'm thinking journalism, or working for a fashion magazine company. I don't know if its better to go to a school in Chicago, New York, or California. Can anyone give me advice about moving out of state when starting college out of highschool? Or is it practical to stay where I am. Thanks.
