If your partner was alive but you knew you’d never see them again would you find some one else?

The other day I saw a syfy show (stargate universe) where the howl cast where trapped on a planet on the other side of the universe with no ship…and they’d been frown 2000 years into the past so…. their prospects of ever getting back to earth wear pretty low, realising this the main characters start paring off, the one thing I wondered was did any of them have partners back on earth, that’s me question if you found your self in that situation and you new for sure that you where never going to see your boy/girl friend again would you be willing to find someone else? And if you where how long would it take you to come around to that?
