Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal question?

I'm replaying the BG series and I don't know if It's better to beat BG2 before I install Throne of Bhaal. Would it be better to have ToB installed when I start Shadows of Amn? I know it was made to beat SoA first, but would I have to back track to accomplish anything in ToB?
