Why does every good Sci-Fi series get cancelled after two seasons?

Sarah Connor got cancelled. Caprica got cancelled. Stargate Universe got cancelled. V got cancelled. V wasn't that great, but it was watchable. Meanwhile you have crappy Sanctuary that got renewed for it's fourth season. Why do they cancel the good shows but keep the bad ones going?
